Description
Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.

Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways… or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.

In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.

My Thoughts
I went into this book with high expectations because I had read Kiersten's Paranormalcy series and loved it. I will say first of all that I did enjoy this read. It did not blow me away but I see a lit of potential in the series overall.

We are introduced to two narrators at the very beginning of the novel, Annie and Fia, who are sisters that couldn't be more opposite. Fia was gifted with amazing instincts and fast reflexes , while Annie is blind and has what most call a "second sight" which means that she relies on Fia for most things. These amazing abilities catch the eye of a school that uses girls with extraordinary abilities in unthinkable ways, and Fia and Annie soon find themselves in a world they would rather escape.

Both narrators have their own distinct voice and I will admit that I preferred Annie over Fia. I found Fia to be very immature in her narration and the way she was written made me dislike her a lot throughout the book. Let just say she said many things as an aside (in parentheses), which got a little annoying over time.

Annie on the other hand was extremely interesting because of her "second sight" ad her observations of the world she cannot see. I found her point of view to be the most interesting and I think it is because she had to view the world in the dark and decipher things in different ways.

I had one large issue with this book, and that was the twist at the end. Although I did not see it coming at all, it seemed a little far fetched. I did not whole heartily believe that this particular character would do something like that all of a sudden. But maybe more explanation will be given in the second book. I hope so at least.

The secondary characters were quite interesting, especially when Kiersten White went into the past. I just wish that there were more time for certain characters. There are some amazing personalities in this book and they deserve the same love as Fia and Annie, and I can't wait to see if they get their time in the spotlight.

Overall it was an entertaining read. I am intrigued enough to read the next book and will be waiting to see if there is enough character growth for me to keep reading.
