20 Questions ~ With Jennifer Echols!

This is a brand new feature for the blog! This is where I ask publishing professionals (authors, marketers, and bloggers) some awesome questions!

Today I am happy to have Jennifer Echols on the blog! She is the author of Biggest Flirts, a book that came out this past week! Without further ado, here is Jennifer!


  1. Explain what part of the Publishing world you are a part of (ie. Publisher, Author, Blogger etc.)
 
I’m the author of 16 romantic novels for Simon & Schuster.
 
 
  1. Who is your favourite author of all time, and why?
 
Jane Austen combined romance plotlines and gorgeous prose. I’m a huge fan!
 
 
  1. Who would you chose to play you in the movie depicting your life?
 
My novel most like my life is Endless Summer, and I’ve always said Disney darling Ashley Tisdale would be perfect to play the heroine, Lori.
 
 
  1. What was/is your favourite candy or snack from your childhood?
 
I froze grape Koolaid in ice trays with a toothpick stuck in each square as a popsicle handle, and I would eat them while sitting in the floor in front of a space heater. You asked.
 
  1. Who is your favorite fictional character, and why?
 
I could not possibly say. Characters are very real to me, and I would not want to hurt any of their feelings by singling one out.
 
 
  1. Do you have a TV show that is your guilty pleasure? If so which one is it?
 
I love science documentaries and shows about experimentation. My favorites right now are Cosmos and Mythbusters.
 
 
  1. Do you have a bucket list? If she what is one item on that list?
 
Yes. Someday I am going to learn to surf!
 
 
  1. Are you a Mac or PC
 
I recently switched from PC to Mac, and it’s the best decision I ever made.
 
 
  1. Do you have a favourite fictional couple?
 
Again, this is too hard. There are so many I love!
 
 
  1. What is your most anticipated movie you cannot wait to see, and why?
 
I’m very excited about the remake of Point Break because the first version was so good. At the same time, the next version is bound to be a disappointment. I will see it anyway.
 
 
  1. What season is your favourite, and why?
 
I am a summertime girl! I grew up on a lake, swimming every day from May to September. I can’t get enough of the hot weather.
 
 
  1. If you could do any profession, other than your own for a day, which would it be and why?
 
Before I became a writer full time, I was a copyeditor, and I would go back to that job in a heartbeat. The best job in the world is writing, but the second best job is making sure other people’s writing is the best it can be.
 
 
  1. Who was your first ever concert?
 
The band Chicago!
 
 
  1. Where is your favourite reading spot, and why?
 
I have a screened porch in back of my house, on the second story, up in the trees. In summer it’s surrounded by leaves like a treehouse, and in the winter you can see all the way to the next mountain.
 
 
  1. Did you have a nickname as a child? If she what was it?
 
I was called Jif (and still am by family members) because my brother, who was 2 when I was born, couldn’t say Jennifer and called me Jifenner.
 
 
  1. What posters did you hang on your wall when you were younger?
 
I went through various art stages. I really loved Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss, but my college roommate thought it was disgusting, so I covered up the lovers’ eyes with a black rectangle as if they were doing porn. I was not a good roommate.
 
 
  1. What is your favourite genre to read, and why?
 
Of course I’m a huge romance fan, both YA and adult. I also read some sci-fi and a lot of nonfiction. I like to be surprised.
 
 
  1. If you could describe yourself as a potato chip flavour, why would it be and why?
 
I would never, under any circumstances, describe myself as a potato chip flavour. I do not want to be addictive and bad for myself.
 
 
  1. Do you agree with the notion that over time, ebooks will eliminate print books?
 
No, I really don’t think this is going to happen. We can see photos on our computers, but we still print them out and frame them. I think we still want to touch books, and hold them while we read them, and put them on our shelves when we’re done. I certainly do. I read ebooks that aren’t available in print, but if I really love one, I wish I had a copy to keep. The ebook doesn’t seem to count.
 
 
  1. What book are you most looking forward to reading this year?
 
Sweet Unrest by my friend Lisa Maxwell.

Jennifer Echols was born in Atlanta and grew up in a small town on a beautiful lake in Alabama—a setting that has inspired many of her books.
