Kat Caruso wishes her brain had a return policy, or at least a complaint hot-line. The defective organ is constantly distracted, terrible at statistics, and absolutely flooded with inappropriate thoughts about her boyfriend’s gorgeous best friend, Alec…who just so happens to be her brand new math tutor. Who knew nerd was so hot?

Kat usually goes through tutors like she does boyfriends—both always seem to bail when they realize how hopeless she is. It’s safer for her heart to keep everyone at arm’s reach. But Alec is always stepping just a little too close.

Alec Stone should not be fantasizing about Kat. She’s adorable, unbelievably witty, and completely off limits. He’d never stab his best friend in the back…

But when secrets are revealed, the lines of loyalty are blurred. To make it count, Alec must learn messy human emotions can’t be solved like a trigonometry function. And Kat has to trust Alec may be the first guy to want her for who she is, and not in spite of it.

I love New Adult, it has quickly become my second favorite age group to read from. YA is number 1 of course :D But when I saw this book I knew I wanted to read it, it sounded cute and fun, and i was very right!

Make It Count is about Kat who is in college but struggling with some of her classes and therefore needs a tutor, but it seems that Kat cannot seem to keep one. So when she is assigned Alec, her current boyfriends best friend as tutor, things become complicated. I loved Alec's and Kat's relationship because it was slow building. The author did a great job at building sexual tension and scenes that made you plead for more. I thought that making Alec the smart one was a great, refreshing thing to read because you do not see that, that often in this genre.

I had two issues with this book, and one of them was Kat's boyfriend Max. I disliked him the moment I met him and I hated the way he treated Kat because she had issues with school. I also hated that she stayed with him even though he treated her like the scum underneath his shoe at points in the book. I wanted to see Kat stand up for herself more, and when she finally did I was like, thank god! I was so happy about that. The other issue I had was with the climax and "tension" that ultimately finished the book. I thought that it was a little juvenile and really did not make sense for the characters. I just felt like it was forced because something needed  happen to these characters to create a rift.

One aspect that I did enjoy was the reveal of Kat's "issue" with school. I will not say what it is because it is a reveal at one point but I have to say that what she was going through in the book is something that many can relateable to and I am so happy that the author created her character to have it, because it not only makes her relatabale but it also gives her the ability to redeem herself in the end and get help. I loved it. It also gave tension to Kat's home life and w saw a different side of her parents and I loved reading that as well.

Overall Make It Right was a very enjoyable read, I liked the characters and the setting. Since this is a new series I will read the next one. Even though I did not like Max in this book, I cannot wait to find out what happens to him and how he can redeem himself for being a douche to Kat!

  1. Ugh. I think Kat would bug me more than Max ever could. I can't respect a character who forces herself/himself to another when it's obvious how wrong they are. I like the sound of this story, though. But Max and Kat would probably incite some raging rants. Lol. :)
