Synopsis
It seemed so simple: Defeat the Tonton, rescue her kidnapped brother, Lugh, and then order would be restored to Saba’s world. Simplicity, however, has proved to be elusive. Now, Saba and her family travel west, headed for a better life and a longed-for reunion with Jack. But the fight for Lugh’s freedom has unleashed a new power in the dust lands, and a formidable new enemy is on the rise.

What is the truth about Jack? And how far will Saba go to get what she wants? In this much-anticipated follow-up to the riveting Blood Red Road, a fierce heroine finds herself at the crossroads of danger and destiny, betrayal and passion.

My Thoughts
What can say about this book, I loved Blood Red Road when it came out last year and I have been eagerly anticipating this sequel and I will tell you right now that it did not disapoint.

I have loved Saba's character from the very first page of Blood Red Road. She is strong and independent and cares deeply about her family and friends and her relationships are tested in this second novel.  I do have to say that I loved getting a second perspective in the prologue of the book, it was nice to see someone else's view and not only Saba, but I did like that the rest of the novel was only in Saba's eyes. It gave a mystery aspect to the story and I loved that.

Jack's character was an interesting one because it was all through the word of mouth of others and you never really knew what was the truth and what was a lie and I found that to be a driving force behind the plot. While Saba was looking for Jack you are constantly thinking "is he good? or did he turn bad?" and it made me want to read soo much faster in order for me to get to the answer.

I really didn't understand the other "love story" that appeared in the middle of the story, I found that it came out of nowhere and really didn't make any sense. Although it does add a very interesting element to the next book, I do think it could have been eased in a bit better.

I am going to put out there that I really do not like Lugh...at all. He was aggressive and just plain mean at times. And I know that he has his own demons, the same as Saba but at times I really wanted her to punch him in the face and tell him to back off.

If you loved Blood Red Road you will love this book. It has everything in it, suspense, action and a very good kissing scene :) So please pick this up and you will not regret it, I promise!

  1. I'm reading it at the moment, having read Blood Red Road for the first time this week! It's just a shame we have to wait so long for the next one :( I love Emmi, and Nero. And I am eager to find out what happens to Jack!
